The 2010 Fall Conference [1] is scheduled for Oct 8th in Perry, IA. David L. Delmonico, Ph.D. and Elizabeth Griffin, MA, LMFT will present a four session workshop with the goal of increasing participants' knowledge of the technology, language and psychology of cybersex. The second part of the workshop will cover evaluation, management and treatment of problematic online sexual behavior as well as an examination of issues surrounding cyberoffense and cyber-exploitation. Online registration will begin August 16th.
The two-day long Spring 2010 conference was a hit! It offered a review and refresher on classic evidence-supported treatments. Contemporary therapies that reflect both an expansion of well-established practices and new practice in mental health counseling were be presented. Day One was a presentation by Dr. Kelly G. Wilson, who provided an excellent review of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Ethical and legal issues involving clinical practice and research were also explored and speed mentoring provided an opportunity for students and early career psychologists to get some mentoring from experienced psychologists.
The 2010 Iowa Governor's Conference on Public Health was April 13 & 14, 2010 at Scheman Center, Ames, IA.
