SPACE: Parent-Based Treatment for Childhood and Adolescent Anxiety and OCD

Eli R. Lebowitz

Eli R. Lebowitz, PhD | Professor Lebowitz studies and treats childhood and adolescent anxiety at the Yale Child Study Center. His research focuses on the development, neurobiology, and treatment of anxiety and related disorders, with special emphasis on family dynamics and the role of parents in these problems. Dr. Lebowitz is the lead investigator on multiple funded research projects, and is the author of research papers, books and chapters on childhood and adolescent anxiety. He is also the father of three great boys.

  • Our presenter, Dr. Lebowitz, developed SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions) training.
  • SPACE workshops have been delivered by Dr. Lebowitz and other members of the Yale Child Study Center to international audiences.
  • IPA members are fortunate to have the opportunity to participate in a training workshop by Dr. Lebowitz, here in our home state!
  • SPACE is a unique, empirically-supported treatment program in which providers treat childhood OCD and anxiety by working directly with the children's parents.
  • SPACE providers intervene with parents to provide appropriate support to their children and to change their own behaviors, which effectively reduces children's anxiety and OCD.

  • This workshop will include a SPACE manual and other materials provided by Dr. Lebowitz.

  • This workshop provides a tremendous value to IPA members, on the order of several hundred dollars lower than attendees typically pay to attend SPACE workshops.

Continuing Education

CE will be emailed to attendees who have completed the training evaluation.

About This Workshop

This workshop will review the background, theory and evidence base for SPACE and will provide training on implementing the treatment steps. The workshop will include lecture, simulation, and video excerpts.
Attendees must complete the course in full and attend all sessions in order to receive ANY continuing education credit. No partial credit will be given.
