Ethical Considerations for Psychologists Working with People with Disabilities (3 ETHICS CE Hours)

Erin E. Andrews, PsyD, ABPP is the Psychology Program Manager for the VA VISN (pronounced visin) 17 Telemental Health Clinical Resource Hub. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Dell Medical School, the University of Texas at Austin. She is Board Certified in Rehabilitation Psychology. Dr. Andrews' areas of clinical and research interest include disability identity and cultural competence, disability inclusion in psychology training, sexual and reproductive rights of people with disabilities, disabled parenting, and reducing bias in disability language. She is the author of Disability as Diversity: Developing Cultural Competence, published in 2019 by Oxford University Press.

About This Workshop

The purpose of this virtual training is to enhance knowledge skills and ability to provide culturally competent and ethical care to persons with disabilities. Dr. Andrews will present disability-relevant ethical principles, standards, and conflicts and explore hypothetical ethical case resolutions.


Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  1. Identify relevant ethical principles, standards, and conflicts in working with people with disabilities
  2. Compare and contrast the pros and cons of at least two hypothetical ethical case resolutions
