This workshop discusses the diversi ty model of disability and how although disability is included in most defi nitions of diversity, it is rarely fully integrated into diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. Dr. Andrews will present contemporary trends in dis ability language and introduce the concept of disability culture. Attendees will learn the difference between psychological adjustment to disability a nd disability identity development. Pertinent attitudes that affect the liv ed experience of disabled people will be explored. Clinically relevant sugg estions for culturally competent care for persons with disabilities will be offered.
