T his salon will inform psychologists of the importance and professional scop e of civic engagement. IPA psychologists will tell of their experiences in this area, provide tips, and detail what drew them to advocate for psycholo gy in order to benefit society and improve people’s lives. Attendees will l earn more about IPA’s advocacy agenda, progress made, and challenges ahead. Skills and resources beneficial to psychologists interested in civic engag ement will round out the salon and there will be opportunities to ask quest ions of the speakers - IPA lobbyist and IPA State Advocacy Chair. This salo n training will provide a good primer (or refresher) for anyone new to meet ing with legislators or public officials and all attendees are encouraged t o join IPA the following morning (Feb 20) for the IPA Legislative Breakfast at the Iowa Capitol.
