LGBTQ+ Clinical Competencies (2 Hours)

Dr. Chapple-Love is a licensed counseling psychologist in Nevada. The owner of a private practice, Elle Psychological Services, LLC, Dr. Chapple-Love has focused on diverse populations (e.g., LGBTQAI+, People of Color, the Kink community, etc.) and the ways that they process and can excel while living within systems of oppression and majority culture spaces. She is the current president-elect of the Nevada Psychological Association and will serve as president in 2022.  Dr. Chapple-Love is also a cultural competency consultant who works with agencies and organizations to assist them in developing their own diversity, equity, and inclusion programming and policies that they can then implement to ensure their workplace is safer for all those present.

About This Workshop

The shifting optics of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in our social and clinical landscape has forced many of us to recognize the need for continuing education in matters that impact the communities we serve. This presentation focuses upon the introduction of clinical skills as clinical competencies for working with Sexual Orientation and Gender Diverse (SOGI) communities.


Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to:
1. Identify the importance of intersectionality within Sexual Orientation and Gender Diverse (SOGI) communities. 
2. Be able to identify the ethical principle the presenter noted as relating to competencies when working with SOGI populations. 
3. Identify three clinical skills that will better equip you to work with SOGI populations.
